COPPA compliance company adds team of technical experts to further mobile privacy software innovation and strengthen developer education and support
YORK, PA. May 21, 2014 /MobilityWire/ — AgeCheq (www.agecheq.com), the company helping mobile app and game publishers easily make their apps and games COPPA compliant, today announced Marc Smith has joined the company as chief technology officer (CTO). In this role, Marc is responsible for determining AgeCheq’s overall technical direction and overseeing all technical developments and initiatives as the company continues to innovate with cross-platform, cloud-based mobile privacy management tools.
“With more than two decades of experience developing world-class software for both desktop and web, Marc plays a key role in guiding AgeCheq through the diverse and constantly changing mobile app landscape,” said Roy Smith, AgeCheq founder and CEO. “Marc’s extensive technical background enables him to provide crucial insight as AgeCheq continues to grow and provide the app ecosystem with compliance tools for privacy laws, including COPPA.”
Marc joins AgeCheq from Intel, where he was responsible for the development of the Intel XDK, a suite of tools for developing hybrid mobile applications, and led all server-side software development related to the appMobi XDK. Throughout his career, Marc has established a reputation as an expert in the software field, serving in executive positions in software development at Intel, appMobi, AOL Inc., EDS and MapQuest.
“AgeCheq is dedicated to building world-class scalable infrastructure to help users understand and manage their privacy when using mobile devices,” said Marc. “Privacy laws like COPPA, CalOPPA, “Do Not Track” and “Internet Eraser” have been passed to protect mobile users, but compliance is extremely difficult for app publishers. AgeCheq’s cloud-based “compliance as a service” relieves game and app developers and ad networks from most of the cost and effort of compliance, while giving parents a single-sign-on dashboard to monitor and curate their children’s privacy as mandated by privacy laws.”
Also joining AgeCheq’s technical staff are mobile experts Andrew Smith and Tyler Smith, who will be spearheading AgeCheq’s technology evangelism efforts while lending their expertise to the design and development of AgeCheq’s mobile privacy tools. Like Marc, both Andrew and Tyler came to AgeCheq by way of Intel and appMobi.
Andrew, whose technical know-how has earned him a reputation as an exceptional team leader and educator, will direct the company’s developer education efforts in addition to serving as a primary advocate for the AgeCheq ecosystem. Tyler, an HTML5 game development expert and a published author on the topic of mobile app development, will play a key role in AgeCheq software infrastructure development as well as developer education activities.
AgeCheq is a complete “COPPA compliance ecosystem,” serving the needs of both app developers who must comply with the law and parents who want to regain control of their children’s online privacy. AgeCheq offers app publishers a frictionless path to make their apps and games COPPA compliant, at no cost. For parents, AgeCheq provides a single point of contact where they can easily see, and approve or disapprove, of what is going on behind the scenes in the apps their children use. AgeCheq is platform-agnostic and can be integrated into an existing app and tested within a day. For more information visit www.agecheq.com.
