YORK, PA. June 17, 2014 /MobilityWire/ — AgeCheq (www.agecheq.com), today announced the immediate availability of its Corona software development kit, which opens the AgeCheq COPPA compliance service to all mobile game developers who use the Corona Labs 2D game engine. With AgeCheq, game publishers who may have children under 13 in their audience can easily comply with COPPA privacy regulations by using the SDK to add a few lines of code to their game. Existing games can be updated, tested and re-posted to the app stores within a single day.

With the addition of Corona Labs’ game engine, AgeCheq now supports all of the major game development environments, including native iOS, native Android, HTML5 and Unity.

“With over 300,000 developers worldwide and 1.6 billion monthly user sessions, Corona clearly offers independent game developers a powerful cross platform game development toolset,” said Roy Smith, AgeCheq CEO. “These indie game publishers are required to comply with child privacy laws just as the larger developers are, but they do not have the resources to create and legally vet a viable compliance solution. The AgeCheq service allows Corona developers whose games may be used by children under 13 to easily comply with the COPPA law using what the FTC refers to as a ‘common mechanism’ for parental verification, disclosure and approval. As we approach the one year anniversary of the revised COPPA law’s enactment, the only question about FTC enforcement is ‘when’ not ‘if’. With potential fines of up to $16,000 per child, many independent developers could be put out of business if they do not comply with the law and are cited by the FTC.”

AgeCheq’s Corona SDK includes Lua files with a default view that demonstrates the proper use of each network.request call to AgeCheq’s servers. Corona developers simply need to customize the look and feel of the view and add their AgeCheq developer and app ID keys, then recompile and test their game. The SDK works for both iOS and Android app builds. Full documentation of the Corona SDK is available at http://documentation.agecheq.com/?page=corona#headerSection and a tutorial video is available on AgeCheq’s video channel at http://vimeo.com/98073476

The AgeCheq Corona SDK and the basic AgeCheq service are offered free to all Corona developers. The basic service includes unlimited usage and a developer dashboard for managing privacy disclosure information. For publishers with millions of monthly users, AgeCheq offers a paid “Pro” service that provides useful analytics on onboarding, player usage and disclosure page views, as well as transition controls. Corona developers can sign up for the service at http://www.developer.agecheq.com.
