Oversubscribes B financing round, adds ad networks, support for all major mobile platforms and game engines
YORK, PA. December 18, 2014 /MobilityWire/ — Today AgeCheq (www.agecheq.com) announced a number of important year-end milestones on its mission to help the $25 billion mobile app and game industry transition into compliance with mobile privacy laws such as the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and CalOPPA.
“We believe that in 2015, a ‘perfect storm’ of FTC enforcement, new understanding and concern about mobile privacy among consumers and parents, and the ever increasing market share of mobile smartphones and tablets will motivate game and app publishers into action on privacy and transparency” said AgeCheq CEO, Roy Smith. “We have completed the previously announced scale up of our cloud service to handle up to 1 billion app starts per day and with today’s announcements, AgeCheq stands ready to facilitate the entire mobile app industry’s embrace of privacy and transparency.”
On November 22, the company closed its oversubscribed $800K series B financing round, raising $1M from Washington, DC and Mid-Atlantic angel investors in just 3 weeks. Following the B round, the total amount of capital raised by the company is $2.2M.
28 of the top 50 mobile advertising networks are now present on AgeCheq’s service. Under the updated US COPPA law, advertising networks are required to disclose the personally identifiable information their services capture when they are integrated into a mobile app or game that will be used by children under 13. Importantly, ad networks are now subject to FTC enforcement if they do not accurately disclose the private information they capture when an app is being used by a child.
“Privacy questions from concerned developers have been increasing over the past year,” said Ariel Simis, Chief Marketing Officer of RevMob, a leading mobile ad network that uses the AgeCheq service. “AgeCheq makes it really easy for us to support our developers who require accurate privacy information to comply with COPPA.”
To ease the burden of COPPA compliance for mobile game publishers, AgeCheq offers software development toolkits (SDKs) for major smartphone platforms and game engines, including iOS, Android, Unity, Corona, and HTML5. Using these SDKs, publishers can easily integrate AgeCheq into a game or app, test, and repost the game to the app store within a single day. Today, AgeCheq announced two additional SDKs supporting Microsoft Windows Phone and Apache Cordova, rounding out its complete support for all major app platforms and game engines.
As a result of its integration partnership with Kochava, a leading mobile ad attribution and analytics provider, the AgeCheq compliance service is now available to the 400,000+ game developers in Asia who use the popular Cocos2D game engine.
AgeCheq leads the industry with innovative technology solutions covering the intersection of privacy and mobile devices. The company delivers cloud-based privacy disclosure, regulatory compliance and management services to mobile app and game publishers and web site operators. As the mobile industry’s premier CaaS (compliance as a service) provider, AgeCheq’s patent pending COPPA service fulfills the need for a single sign-on “common consent mechanism” that streamlines compliance for both parents and publishers. Its cloud-based PrivacyCheq service delivers Regulation P and CalOPPA compliant privacy notices to mobile users on any device or operating system. For more information visit www.AgeCheq.com.
