Advansys Releases New Version of Popular Archive To Go at GWAVACon

GWAVACon, San Diego, Calif. — January 29, 2008 — Advansys has announced a new version of its best-selling Archive To Go for GroupWise.

The “on-demand” user-driven product provides a reliable and easy way for administrators to export a GroupWise mailbox and personal archives to a searchable portable format which doesn’t require the GroupWise Client. Common uses include making the primary mailbox and GroupWise personal archives portable, backing up inactive accounts and private data removal to reduce storage costs and legal discovery.

Version 1.5 adds even more control over archiving capabilities than the previous version, such as date range and private item filtering, folder selection, custom archive naming improved user interface and enterprise access features.

“Exporting GroupWise data for archiving purposes is a no-brainer with Advansys Archive To Go. It’s the default standalone archiving tool for us,” said Roel van Bueren, CEO of ROVABU Networks and Custom-R-Tools. “Archive To Go is the premiere archiving tool for the GroupWise space.”

These new features make it easy to create and distribute specialized, searchable knowledge bases from a collection of GroupWise messages, such as the GroupWise Resource Archive, which comprises many years worth of searchable NGWList digest messages (http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/tip/16569.html).

“What makes Archive To Go 1.5 different from our competition is that instead of another full-time archiving product, it offers a high-quality on-demand publishing/archiving solution,” said Gregory Bell, CEO, Advansys. “Administrators often use the enterprise mode but it can also be rolled out to users for creating their own archives.”

Archive To Go also integrates with key GWAVA products, such as Reload, Reveal, Redline and Vertigo.

Advansys plans on releasing further Archive To Go extensions, which offer the ability to restore Advansys Portable Messages back into GroupWise and conversion to HTML and Microsoft Outlook PST formats. Advansys will deliver the premiere demonstration the Microsoft Outlook PST converter at GWAVACon San Diego.

GroupWise Integration for SugarCRM, Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Salesforce at GWAVACon 2008

GWAVACon, SAN DIEGO, Calif. – January 28, 2008 – Omni Technology Solutions Inc. (Omni) has announced immediate availability of the public beta of Riva CRM Integration for GroupWise – Desktop Edition. Interested parties are invited to register on-line at www.omni-ts.com to participate in the public beta.

“Omni is excited to announce the public beta of Riva CRM Integration for GroupWise – Desktop Edition,” said Aldo Zanoni, CEO and Managing Director of Omni. “Companies need to be able to deliver agile business information to their key employees. Riva CRM Integration for GroupWise integrates GroupWise into the heartbeat of a business – its CRM.”

Riva CRM for GroupWise – Desktop Edition provides transparent synchronization between GroupWise and SugarCRM (Community Edition, Professional Edition and Enterprise Edition), Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Salesforce CRM. Riva delivers bi-directional synchronization of accounts, contacts, appointments, tasks, notes and phones calls. CRM quotes and opportunity summaries are also available in GroupWise.

“What customers appreciate most about Riva,” continued Zanoni, “is that the synchronization process is transparent to the end user. Riva extends the value of GroupWise and the CRM investment because the synchronized information is available from all GroupWise clients: Linux, Macintosh, Windows, WebAccess, BlackBerry devices and GroupWise Mobile Server mobile devices. By extending CRM information to all GroupWise clients, employees are “CRM information-connected” all the time. Employees can work in GroupWise or the CRM and don’t have to worry about having to copy and paste information from one to the other. A phone number change in the GroupWise address book is updated in the CRM. A task that gets marked as completed on a BlackBerry gets marked as completed in the CRM.”

“What got us excited about Omni’s CRM Integration for GroupWise is the fact that it’s transparent. All critical CRM information is available to us whether we are working in GroupWise on Linux, Windows, Macintosh, WebAccess or on our BlackBerry and GroupWise Mobile Server devices,” said Brian Ogden from Switchdesk. “Having CRM information available on our mobile devices without having to install any special software on them is a tremendous benefit to our sales and management staff. As a Linux shop, we look forward to the next release of Riva so our customers can run Riva Desktop Edition on Linux desktops. Our company believes Riva CRM integration will revolutionize how we and our GroupWise customers do business.”

Riva CRM Integration for GroupWise version 1.3 will include provide transparent email integration between the CRM and GroupWise. Emails sent from SugarCRM, Microsoft Dynamics CRM or Salesforce will be available as Sent Items in user GroupWise accounts and vice versa.

GWAVA Makes Archiving BlackBerry Text Messages Fast and Simple

GWAVA introduces RetainTM for BlackBerry Enterprise Server, the first clientless text message archiving solution, solving compliance requirements on the popular mobile platform

Why Retain is important in the enterprise

  • New compliance regulations require enterprises to track all text communication by their employees. Unlike email messages that pass through a mail server making them easy to archive and audit, text messages are sent directly from one device to another over the networks of wireless service providers, making archiving and auditing messages extremely challenging for IT departments.
  • Retain for BlackBerry Enterprise Server helps solves this challenge by archiving text messages, letting enterprises comply with regulations for preserving text communication without affecting employees’ ability to utilize all the text messaging functionality of the Research In Motion® (RIM) BlackBerry.

No client software needed

  • Retain is installed directly on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and requires no client software for the BlackBerry device. Without a client, Retain does not use any memory or processing resources on the device, eliminating any impact on the device’s performance and making the solution tamper-proof by individual end-users. The server-side solution eliminates the need for IT departments to “touch” every BlackBerry device deployed, repaired or replaced within the enterprise, saving time and expense.

How and where Retain works

  • The Retain Archive Viewer is installed on one or several workstations allowing administrators to easily audit the database. Retain works on both the common short message service (SMS) text messages used for mobile phone-to-mobile phone messaging, as well as BlackBerry-specific personal identification number (PIN) form of text messages that allow one BlackBerry user to send a message directly to another BlackBerry.
  • The Retain agent collects the information contained in the countless files of SMS, PIN and phone log information and imports them into a SQL database. Organizations can then create comprehensive audit trails and quickly and easily access this information for any necessary investigations.

Powerful searching and archiving

  • All data archived by Retain is completely searchable down to the most granular level of detail from the Archive Viewer. In addition to its search functions, Retain can also alert administrators when certain keywords appear in real time text communication. Auditing PIN, SMS text messages and phone logs that previously took weeks to perform can now be completed quickly.

Storage

  • Retain’s archives use a small amount of hard drive space to keep data for an entire enterprise. A medium-sized business can store its whole BlackBerry text message archive for all employees using only a few gigabytes.

QUOTES

Charles Taite, CTO of GWAVA

“Apart from voice, texting is the most popular method of mobile communication, so addressing associated compliance issues is of paramount concern for organizations that issue BlackBerry smartphones to their employees. This simple and fast form of communication has become a vital business tool used by virtually everyone with a mobile phone. Retain provides the means for organizations running BlackBerry Enterprise Server to ensure that they can collect and audit all their mobile text communications, not just email.”

Kathryn Weldon, Principal Analyst for Enterprise Mobility at Current Analysis

“IT departments racing to meet compliance mandates often have difficult compromises to make. Text messaging may be viewed as an essential business tool by employees, but IT departments that need to install software on hundreds or thousands of devices may opt instead to switch off such messaging functions. GWAVA Retain for BlackBerry addresses this dilemma head-on by developing a clientless, server-side archiving solution that installs quickly and brings an entire enterprise BlackBerry deployment into compliance, saving IT departments time and expense while eliminating end-user tampering.”
