LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. – MobilityWire® – December 21, 2010

Nominations are now being accepted for the Most Underrated Mobile App of 2010 awards. Mobile application developers can submit their applications – free of charge – through January 31 to earn the recognition for their overlooked but award-worthy apps.

The award is sponsored by PR4apps™ (www.pr4apps.com), offering public relations tailored specifically to support mobile applications. Applications will be judged by a group of mobile industry celebrities and judging will commence promptly on February 1, 2011, so developers are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible for early consideration.

“2010 may go down in history as the year of the mobile app,” said Melissa Burns, principal of Mobility PR. “But, not every good app developed this year has had its 15 minutes of fame. The underrated app award program specifically seeks out those apps that are underrated and overlooked with the goal of giving them the attention they deserve.”

The awards are free to enter and the call for entries closes on January 31, 2010 at midnight PDT. Entries are accepted online at http://www.pr4apps.com/underrated/. Among the qualifications required to submit include:

The app must have averaged fewer than 100 downloads per day (a rate less than 36,500 total downloads for all of 2010).

Apps must be free or sell for less than $10 per download.

Apps must have launched in a public app store between January 1, 2010 and September 30, 2010, and must be currently available for download.

Visit http://www.pr4apps.com/underrated/rules/ for the complete list of rules and qualifications.

A panel of expert mobile industry judges, including Sarah Perez of ReadWriteWeb, Rob Woodbridge of Untether.tv and Simon Sage of IntoMobile.com, will select a single app to crown as the Most Underrated App of 2010. Additional celebrity judges will be announced on an ongoing basis. Finalists and the ultimate winner will be announced in February 2011. Both finalists and the winner will receive award logos to help promote their apps, and the winning app will receive a PR services package valued at over $2,000 to help it find its audience in 2011.

“Millions of mobile consumers are switching their cell phones to smartphones every year and a key factor consumers use to decide which smartphone to purchase is the diversity and size of the mobile application catalog within the phone’s or carrier’s respective app stores,” said Melissa Burns, principal at Mobility PR. “The need for new and innovative mobile apps is attracting thousands of new developers to this emerging gold rush and the need for developers to quickly get the apps they create in front of the right audience is crucial to their apps’ success. Mobility PR has perfected the art of the mobile app launch and has created a PR practice with its own team dedicated to driving the success of new applications, even on a bootstrapped budget. We hope this new practice will allow all levels of mobile app developers to take advantage of the PR muscle our team packs into a client launch program.”

LAKE OSWEGO, Oregon – MobilityWire® – November 1, 2010

Mobility Public Relations (www.MobilityPR.com), the full-service PR agency founded specifically to support mobility technology businesses, today announced that it has been awarded a 2010 Spotlight Award by the Portland Metro Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) for its work launching TextArrest, a mobile application to prevent distracted driving.

The theme of this year’s Spotlight Awards was “State of the Art | Art of the State,” meant to recognize outstanding PR campaigns and tactics that raise the standards of the practice. This year’s ceremony showcased the best public relations work of practitioners in Oregon and Southwest Washington, as judged by a group of nationally renowned and accredited PR professionals. The chapter presented 31 first-place Spotlight Awards, 15 second-place Merit Awards and four Awards of Distinction as judged by the Orange County, California PRSA chapter.

“Beyond solid planning and perfect execution of communications campaigns, being successful as a PR agency in this economy requires resourcefulness and the ability to make magic within a set budget,” said Melissa Burns, Mobility Public Relations Principal. “Mobility PR’s TextArrest team developed and executed a launch campaign that would place TextArrest at all the right places and connect the company with all the right people. Being recognized by the Portland Metro PRSA Chapter for being able to successfully plan and carry out this launch in such a short amount of time is validation that we creatively deliver exemplary PR results that add value for our clients.”

“The outstanding work honored tonight demonstrates the high quality of public relations practiced here,” said Dave Thompson, APR, 2010 president of the PRSA-Portland Metro Chapter. “This is what ethical PR is all about: Helping our clients and companies have a voice in the discussion and providing perspective to the public.”

The PRSA Spotlight Awards recognize successfully executed campaigns that address communications challenges with creativity, innovation and outstanding professional skill. Judging criteria includes analyzing each entry for tactics and programs incorporating sound research, planning, execution and evaluation.
