RGB’s Video Multiprocessing Gateway and SeaChange’s Spot Automated Advertising Solution Enable Operators to Deliver Linear TV Channels in Multi-Screen Environments While Inserting Ads
AMSTERDAM – MobilityWire® – September 9, 2010
IBC 2010 Stands 4.B91 & 1.C27
At IBC 2010 RGB Networks, the leader in video networking processing, and SeaChange International (Nasdaq: SEAC), multi-screen television leader, are leveraging their successful partnership to show operators how they can deploy their linear channel line-ups to TVs, PCs and mobile devices and retain complete control of the ad insertion process while doing so. The demonstration, available on RGB’s stand 4.B91 and SeaChange’s stand 1.C27, shows how RGB’s Video Multiprocessing Gateway (VMG™) and SeaChange’s Spot linear ad insertion system can be deployed in tandem to deliver the industry’s only solution that enables operators to seamlessly extend their digital ad insertion capabilities beyond the television to multiple device types using the well-established TV ad ecosystem.
“Consumers will expect entire channel line-ups on any screen and service providers will want to extend their significant ad revenue stream to mobiles and PCs. For operators with large numbers of channels there hasn’t been a cost-effective technology solution until now,” said Damian Mulcock, Vice President, Worldwide Multi-Screen Business at SeaChange. “Together, RGB and SeaChange enable operators to reconcile these two factors – providing a single solution to address the challenges of deploying linear multi-screen services, while leveraging their existing TV ad insertion investments, operations and processes.”
RGB’s high-capacity, high-availability VMG uniquely integrates advanced transcoding, essential for the delivery of real-time programming across TVs, PCs and mobile devices, with seamless ad splicing. When coupled with SeaChange’s Spot system, operators can benefit from an integrated multi-screen transcoding and ad insertion solution controlled and delivered by a unified back office infrastructure. Set-top box, iPad, iPhone and PC Flash 10.1 clients, all receiving live streamed video services with ad insertion, will also be demonstrated on the stand.
“With our unique hybrid IP multicast / content distribution network (CDN) architecture, operators can add three screen ad insertion capabilities to their networks leveraging scalable video backbone infrastructure and shielding the core network from the changes brought on by the constantly-evolving consumer electronics devices that they wish to support – all while minimizing transcoding expenses,” said Nabil Kanaan, Sr. Director of Product Marketing at RGB Networks. “Regardless of end user device and streaming software, network operators can now leverage well-established advertising infrastructure to immediately monetize innovative services to PC and handheld devices, in addition to set-top boxes.”
This demonstration is the latest result of the RGB and SeaChange partnership. As an RGB reseller, SeaChange offers customers worldwide a single source for digital advertising solutions, now spanning three screens.
Executives from RGB and SeaChange will be available for briefings on stand 4.B91 and 1.C27 respectively for the duration of IBC, taking place at the RAI in Amsterdam, September 10-14, 2010.
