Fierce Innovation Awards Program Announces Overall Winners and Finalists

RGB Networks, the leading provider of scalable multiscreen IP video delivery solutions, announced today that it has been recognized as a finalist in the categories “Cable Network Innovation” and “OTT Service Innovation” for the company’s Enhanced Video Intelligence Architecture (eVIA) by this year’s Fierce Innovation Awards. The Innovation Awards are an operator-reviewed program from the publishers of FierceWireless, FierceTelecom and FierceCable.

Finalists (and winners) were selected by an exclusive panel of carrier-only judges including Stephen Bye, CTO and Vice President of Technology Development and Strategy at Sprint; Mattias Fridstrom, Vice President and Head of Technology at TeliaSonera International; Abhi Ingle, Vice President of Ecosystem and Innovation at AT&T; Tom Nagel, Senior Vice President of Business Development and Strategy, for Communications and Data Services at Comcast Cable; Todd Smith, Director of Media Relations at Cox Communications; and Jim Wales, Executive Director of Networks at Verizon.

Judges evaluated submissions based on technology innovation, financial impact, market validation and end-user customer experience.

“Our success in this awards program is the latest recognition by industry leaders for our achievements in TV Everywhere delivery and monetization, highlighting the flexibility of our eVIA solution to address a wide variety of requirements for managed cable networks, as well as OTT services,” said Ramin Farassat, Vice President of Product Marketing and Business Development for RGB Networks. “Our eVIA solution has already been deployed by many leading video service providers to deliver IP-based video services to multiple screens, and they are now taking advantage of the added benefits of just-in-time packing for streamlining operations and integrated targeted advertising capabilities for generating new revenue.”

RGB’s Enhanced Video Intelligence Architecture (eVIA)
RGB’s eVIA is a complete IP video solution for the delivery and monetization of live and on-demand multiscreen services. This suite of integrated products provides encoding, transcoding, packaging and ad insertion capabilities, with the flexibility to meet evolving requirements. Built to grow as consumer demand for TV Everywhere services increases, this highly scalable solution consistently provides the video quality and reliability that subscribers expect for premium video services.

RGB’s eVIA solution is comprised of the following products and technologies to meet a full range of live and on-demand multiscreen requirements:

  • Integrated Transcoding & Packaging: At the heart of RGB’s eVIA solution is the Video Multiprocessing Gateway (VMG™). This carrier-class platform performs the industry’s highest capacity real-time transcoding and is tightly integrated with RGB’s feature-rich TransAct Packager. The pioneering “just-in-time” packaging capability of RGB’s TransAct Packager enables video service providers (VSPs) to save costly storage and future-proof their VOD and nDVR multiscreen deployments.
  • Flexible Software-based Encoding/Transcoding: RGB’s new TransAct Encoder/Transcoder offers the ability to ingest baseband SDI-sourced live content, as well as IP and file input, for live or on-demand IP video delivery to smartphones, tablets, PCs and connected TVs, as well as traditional set-top boxes.
  • Multiscreen Monetization: RGB’s Ad Insertion for Multiscreen (AIM) solution utilizes advanced ABR streaming to facilitate hyper-targeted advertising down to the neighborhood, device or even specific individual subscriber demographics. The standards-based AIM integrates with ad decision systems (ADS) to create an end-to-end solution for the scalable delivery of addressable ads.
