Launch of Second Generation Multiscreen IP Video Solutions Confirms Market Leadership

RGB Networks, the leading provider of scalable multiscreen IP video delivery solutions, today announces two milestone events – the company’s 10-year anniversary and surpassing $300 million in lifetime product shipments. RGB’s solutions have helped over 400 cable, telco, satellite, over-the-top (OTT) and mobile operators in more than 40 countries to succeed in a rapidly-evolving and increasingly competitive market. Founded in 2003 to facilitate the video industry’s transition from analog to digital, RGB continues to address the industry’s most urgent requirements, including the demand for TV on any device. RGB’s growth is now being driven by its unique multiscreen IP video products, most recently enhanced by its second generation ‘Multiscreen 2.0’ solutions.

“During RGB’s 10 years in business the market has changed on many fronts with the introduction of new services, new technologies and most significantly, the emergence of new competition for our customers. We’re proud that the world’s leading video service providers (VSP) turn to RGB when they face new video processing challenges, and we will continue to be an innovator and a partner to our customers, “said Jef Graham, RGB Networks’ CEO. “As we celebrate two more significant achievements in RGB’s accomplished history, I must thank our customers and partners, and most importantly, the exceptional worldwide team here at RGB who make our continued success possible.”

“That RGB Networks has managed to thrive in a complex and changing market is a testament to the company’s abilities to see market trends and to solidly execute its business plan,” said Michelle Abraham, Senior Analyst with Multimedia Research Group. “They are hitting their stride with multiscreen IP video solutions just as the market for TV Everywhere services is picking up steam and accelerating.”

RGB’s most recent successes can be attributed to the company staying ahead of competitors with solutions that precisely meet customers’ immediate requirements, and will adapt with their needs. In particular, VSPs are making significant strides in scaling up their multiscreen services to deliver live and on-demand video services to tablets, PCs and other mobile devices with the same quality they offer on televisions. Additionally, they are simultaneously seeking to monetize these new mutliscreen services to recoup development costs and generate new revenues. Recognizing these trends, RGB has developed its TV Everywhere product portfolio with the high-density transcoding, ground-breaking adaptive streaming technology and adaptive bit rate (ABR) ad delivery capabilities that VSPs need to cost-effectively expand and monetize their multiscreen services, without compromising on video quality.

Company Highlights:

  • IP Video Success: RGB is the leading provider of IP video solutions in North America thanks to a 100 percent increase in sales during 2012. RGB’s products have also been popular outside North America and have now been deployed by more than 100 customers worldwide.
  • U.S. Multiscreen Dominance: Three of the five largest cable multiple system operators (MSO) in the U.S. have deployed RGB’s TV Everywhere solutions to power their multiscreen deployments.
  • Multiscreen Advertising Leadership: Several top U.S. MSOs are in trials of targeted multiscreen ad insertion utilizing RGB’s Ad Insertion for Multiscreen (AIM) solution as part of their strategic effort to monetize their TV Everywhere services.
  • VMG Gen 2 Launches: RGB is maintaining its lead in IP-based multiscreen solutions with its second generation transcoding platform – the VMG Gen 2 – which the company recently launched as a key component of its ‘Multiscreen 2.0’ solution. The VMG Gen 2 has more than twice the transcoding density of the previous version and has been enhanced for even better picture quality, further distancing RGB from its competitors, many of which are still relying on first generation solutions to serve a market that has moved to a new phase.
  • Strong TransAct Sales: Sales of RGB’s software-based TransAct product line, which complements the hardware-based VMG line, have been strong and growing. The combination of the TransAct and VMG products gives RGB the industry’s broadest and most flexible portfolio of solutions for multiscreen delivery and monetization.
  • Expanding Systems Integrator Relationships: RGB is continuing to establish and grow relationships with the top-tier systems integrators (SI) that many VSPs rely upon to serve as prime contractors for designing and building their TV Everywhere infrastructures. These SIs can substantially increase sales of RGB’s complete TV Everywhere product portfolio.
  • RGB invites everyone attending The Cable Show in Washington, DC, June 10-12, to visit booth #1724 on Tuesday, June 11at 3 p.m. for a champagne toast to celebrate RGB’s 10th anniversary.
