With its new Perceptual Scoring System, Sentry – unlike other solutions – measures how video and audio errors impact the subscriber experience. This unprecedented analysis allows operators to determine the errors that require immediate attention to preserve subscriber satisfaction. The Perceptual Scoring System does its analysis by taking into account human visual and auditory responses to gauge a subscriber’s frustration level over video and audio impairments. The real-time, 24/7 system detects, tracks and reports on a variety of subscriber impacting events including video tiling, frozen video and loss of audio simultaneously in literally hundreds of high definition (HD) and standard definition (SD) programs in either the MPEG-2 or MPEG-4/H.264 video formats. The system can determine which type of error is occurring, on which programs and the severity of the issue from the subscribers’ viewpoint.
Another new feature of Sentry is its Executive Reporting Package which can automatically provide engineers and executive staff alike with the information most relevant to them when they want it. Coupled with Sentry’s new Perceptual Scoring System, operators now have the most accurate means of verifying the quality of service they are providing to their subscribers. The new Executive Reporting capability is particularly helpful in capturing detailed QoE information that quickly highlights the top offending programs and/or locations. The new reporting capabilities allow each user to generate customized reports that provide as much or as little detail as required, from monthly high level reports for executive staff to immediate notices for technicians as incidents occur.
